I am a paramedic who works for an organ procurement organization in the wilds of Kentucky. I am also a husband and a father. Occasionally I fancy myself to be a writer, hence the blog. You are welcome to witness this train wreck but the experience can be disorienting. Don't go swimming for at least thirty minutes.

Buck, just for the record, I loved the story just the way it was. I didn't find the language offensive because I heard it every day of my career either from my partners, patients or, sometimes, myself. It adds color to yourself and others in the piece. The story was real and so are you. Rock on ... - Sam

I do appreciate Bill's comments. I do know how to write for an audience. For instance, this month I submitted a story to the "The Handover" blog carnival that is being hosted by The Happy Medic this month. The story is about a woman who was murdered in a sexual assault, and there are a few curse words in there. I asked if he wanted them edited and have not received an answer yet. So, when I am a guest in someone else's home, I realize that this may be offensive to someone, and I am not above self censorship.

However, everything on this blog is true. Everything on this blog is me working through a career of very intense experiences. There is not one piece of fiction here. If there is anything here that is not quite true it is due to an error in memory. (Some of these events go back 17 years or so, and my leaky mind may have gotten the exact order of some events jumbled.) And I can say under no uncertain terms that this website is NOT FOR CHILDREN. People get murdered, raped, and tortured. Not because I am into that, but because I am telling true stories. Unfortunately I have had a long career of seeing dead bodies, brutal rapes, tortured toddlers, and general mayhem. In the course of seeing all this death and destruction, a few people cursed. Sometimes they cursed a lot. So the depictions of these events will reflect that.

One good point you have brought up though is that the content of this blog has become a bit rough. Perhaps there should be a content warning. But as far as content goes, I see no reason to tiptoe around language while all this mayhem and havoc is being depicted. I appreciate your comments, but it does seem kind of silly. This blog should be treated as a very mature rated-R movie. Either that or a very special Blossom. Swim at your own risk.

Thanks for reading. Thanks for seeing past the profanity. Thanks for indirectly giving me the idea of putting up a content warning.

Peace.

Seriously Bill? No cursing?

In my opinion, the cursing is not about description. It is about proper portrayal of the characters. If that's how someone talks, then that's how they talk. I don't see how you can change that without altering the personality of the character.

Now that I have that off my chest, good story Buck!

While I have peeked at your website before, this is the first blog I have read. I did enjoy it and it is a good story to share. Your girl friend provided you with very sound advice and was a mentor to you, allowing you to be a good mentor to the new employee. I’m challenged by the use of certain words, meaning the use of profanity/ vulgar words, is it necessary? While I understand it is a story and a style of writing used by many authors, I’m just wondering is it necessary. I think the English language is very descriptive without the use of “curse” words. OK, just my point of view. Thank you for taking the time to write and share with others. Bill
